1 project per week sewing challenge

1ppw

After looking at my gargantuan fabric stash and kind of grieving a little over ‘me made may’s end, I have decided to set a sewing challenge called ‘1 project per week’ (#1ppw #1projectper week) the challenge is this: complete 1 sewing project per week for a month. The project can anything, big or small (re-fashions count too).

I suggested it on instagram and some of my lovely instagram sewing buddies decided to participate too! Yay! Much more fun when it’s not just me. 🙂

If you feel like being part of this challenge let me know in the comments or on instagram. You can post your creations on your blog and/or on instagram.

It doesn’t have to be for the whole month either, you can try it out for however long you like. I realize it’s a pretty big commitment and I understand that 1 sewing project every week is a lot. I just felt like giving it a go because I have the time at the moment.

Also if you are on instagram and want to participate don’t forget tag your weekly creations as #1ppw

I count this week as my first week… I’m making a ponte dress and I am about 20-30% done. Better get back to it 😉

I would love to join you in 1PPW if my home renovations finish up and I manage to clean up my house and set up my sewing space before the end of the month. Even if I can’t join you I will enjoy everyone’s makes on instagram 🙂 Have fun, Kath and I look forward to seeing your ponte dress.

    • Thanks. I look forward to seeing your 1PPW, but if things are too hectic I can completely understand. Its going to be so fun setting up your sewing space! Do let us have a peek at it! ☺

Brilliant idea! I have some time on my hands at the moment and could give that a try. I’m not a quick sewer, so I don’t know if I will manage to stick to it, but it’s the thought that counts, right? Anything that gets me started on my full stash sounds like a good idea to me!

    • It sure is (the thought that counts)! That’s great! If it gets you stash-busting then I’d say its still a massive win regardless of how long you participate 🙂

This is a brilliant idea! 🙂 Count me in too! I’m really busy this week, but I’m up for challenges now, and I resolved not to buy new fabric until I get rid of “da stash”, so I’ll be aiming to finish a refashion at first somehow…the motivation bit is at least sorted!

    • Yay! That’s so awesome! I’m so happy to hear that! ☺ That’s a good approach! I have zero room for fabric, but somehow I keep finding space for new stuff but It has to stop- at least for a while!

I know! You know that there is no point in getting more fabric in, but there is no way you can go into a fabric shop and leave empty handed. That just doesn’t work like that. My solution is not to go at all if I want to be good. 🙂 Maybe it would also help if we put a sticker on the fabric with a date of purchase and shame ourselves into using the ones standing on the shelves for more than a year…

    • Ooo that’s just brilliant! 🙂 😀 Nice one!

  4. What a great idea, I almost did it in May. Hmmm…I am finishing up a dress right now that I think should count.
Is that dress in the pic for this post something you have made?

    • It totally counts! 🙂 Even if you just want to take part for a week or 2 that’s still totally cool!
Yes the pink dress is something I made some time ago 😀 . I did blog it, but my blog is a bit of a mess navigation-wise. Its something I plan to tackle soon!

  5. I’ve been working on a goal of 1PPW for about a month now. So far, I’m doing pretty well. My project for last week still needs to be photographed and blogged though. Maybe having a bit of encouragement will help, so count me in.

    • Oh nice! Good for you and thanks for joining in! 🙂

      • I’m looking forward to it! My goal for today is to get my latest project posted and draft the pattern for my next one, hopefully my little one cooperates.
